Deniss J. Martinez Cortez, PhD is our Program Manager. Deniss has worked with Tribal Communities on cultural fire in different capacities for the past 10 years. Her scholarship, activism, and on the ground work has focused on creating a future that centers the wisdom of Indigenous people, not just as marginally relevant but as central to environmental decision making. She loves working with our network to create a future that uplifts Tribal sovereignty, ensures justice for communities of color, and builds governance, culture and decision-making based on values of reciprocity, responsibility, and seven generation thinking.
